From July 21 to July 23, in the Salute Heraklion sports center the grandiose Heracleade 2017 festival took place. For three days, competitions in five sports were held almost simultaneously at different facilities of the stadium: crossfit, weightlifting, track and field, workout and wrestling.
It is noteworthy that the competitions were held both among the leaders of the Russian national team and among sports fans in the following sports disciplines: cross fit, power heptathlon, wrestling, weightlifting and track and field.
It is the first time that track and fields competitions are at this stadium. For the four athlete groups, Heracleade was the last chance to try to fulfill the qualification standard for participation in the World Cup in London. In the new 4x4 format, there were two types of competitions - shot put and Speedy Pentathlon (shortened pentathlon). Country’s best athletes took part in the competitions. In Speedy Pentathlon, athletes ran 60 meters with hurdles, jumped high and long, did the shot put and took part in a 600 meter race. As expected, the prize was won by European champion Ilya Shkurenev and this year’s country champion, Maria Gromysheva. For Shkurenev, Heracliade was the final test of strength before the World Cup. The shot put star was the two-time champion of Russia Maxim Afonin, who set a personal record of 21 meters 7 centimeters and beat such strong competitors as Alexander Lesnoy and Konstantin Lyadusov. The shot put winer among women was Evgenya Solovyova with 17 meters 70 centimeters. All results demonstrated by the winners are the record results for this stadium! The “Russian roulette”, which was included in the program of amateur competitions, kept the audience in suspense. The 7 best athletes in the 200-meter race among men and women went through a real challenge. Start. Three laps. After the first and the second lap, one athlete has to leave. And 100 meters before the end of 3 laps, the roulette starts and no one knows what the distance will be.
In preparation for the competition, Magnum will supply and install track and field equipment.
