In 2017, 70 years of sports climbing in Russia were celebrated. Thanks to the Russian Ministry of Defense and CSKA, rock climbing has developed not only within the Armed Forces, but also at the international level.
From February 22 to February 28, 2017, the III Winter World Military Games will be held at the largest sports centers in Sochi, where the 2014 Winter Olympics were held. Competitions will be held in seven sports: biathlon, cross-country skiing, skiing, orienteering on skis, ski mountaineering, rock climbing and short track. It is expected that about 2 thousand military personnel from 40 countries of the world will take part in these competitions.
The strongest climbers are currently preparing for these competitions and are taking art in training camps. It is planned that from 15 th to 30th of January, 2017, at the Patriot Convention and Exhibition Center, training camps of the CSKA sports climbing team will be held.
On January 5, 2017, in the pavilion "C" of the Universal Training and Demonstration Center of the Patriot Exhibition and Convention Center, Magnum began assembling a complex of climbing walls for competitions in the disciplines of "Challenge" and "Bouldering".
The climbing facility, called "Challenge", when finished, will occupy an area of about 230 square meters, and be up to 16 meters high. Elements that simulate the relief will have angles of inclination and overhang from 10 to 45 degrees.
The climbing wall "Bouldering" will take up more than 190 square meters, and is up to 5 meters high. Incut and overhanging elements of various parts of the climbing wall will reach 4 meters with a slope of 10 to 30 degrees.
