The venue for the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2019 Winter Universiade was the Platinum Arena multifunctional sports and entertainment center.
The decision was made at the level of Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich, following a meeting with the directors of the opening of the Sochi Olympics, Kazan Universiade and representatives of the Match-TV channel. During the Games, the Universiade sports facility will also host men's hockey competitions.
The design and construction o the facility are funded by the Russian Platinum company. The first stone on the foundation was laid in October 2015. In November 2015, Magnum began works on the construction pit. The construction works are carried out within the agreed schedule. The ice palace is to be commissioned in 2018.
